Day 07: Maasai Village & Olduvai George Visit – Serengeti National Park – Game drive – Evening High Tea.
Breakfast, with picnic lunch’s drive to Serengeti National Park. Set off this morning to explore Oldupai Gorge, where archaeologists Louis and Mary Leakey discovered the fossilized remains of some of the earliest known human species, an estimated 1.8 million years old; learn more about the site’s significance on a docent-led tour. Stop at Land of the Maasai—the iconic pastoralists of the East African savanna, known for their scarlet robes, their beadwork, and their legendary ceremonies. Pay a visit to a Maasai Manyatta, or village, where we’ll be greeted with a foot-stomping, high-jumping welcome dance. Immerse yourself in their world, learning about their customs. Meet the village elders, visit homes, and take part in a memorable cultural exchange. Continue wildlife viewing while driving the rough dirt roads across the plains and grasslands of the Serengeti. We head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, dinner and overnight at Cherero Camp.
