DAR AND THE COAST
It does not have to be mandatory Zanzibar or one of the islands. Tanzania’s coast has beautiful places where you can relax after the safari and enjoy the sea. The Saadani National Park even offers the unique combination of Safari and Baden. Another nice option is Ras Kutani south of Dar-Es-Salam.
From Bagamoyo can Saadani be reached in a 4-hour 3-hour drive from Dar Es Salaam. The journey is also possible by small craft of Zanzibar (15 minutes) and Dar Es Salaam (25 minutes). In Saadani there is a bush as well as a sea, so the most diverse animals can be seen on the game drives or boat trips: gnus, antelopes, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, lions, leopards on safari flights, dolphins, turtles And humpback whales during an excursion to the sea.
BAGAMOYO TANZANIA
Once a vital cog in the slave exchange that took slaves from the Lake Manyara region to Zanzibar for sale, Bagamoyo would later become a rallying point for missionaries seeking to abolish the slave trade. These days, the small seaside village is most famous for the construction of dhows – traditional boats used to navigate the cerulean waters of Tanzania’s Indian Ocean coastline. Visitors can see the construction process, or wander the colonial era buildings in pursuit of the ghosts of Tanzania’s darker past.
